Finding joy in the pursuit of the life you've always dreamed of. What a freaking art. I talk a lot about patience and trust in my online wellness program, The Practice. It seems like the more you want something, the more intense the feelings of impatience will grow which then causes you to lose sight of the beauty that lies within the pursuit of getting what you want. How many times have we all heard the line; "it's not about crossing the finish line it's about the journey to get there"? Well, it couldn't be more true.
My husband, a wonderful teacher in my life has challenged me to find happiness in the process of being patient for what I really want. Has it been easy? That's a big hell no. Every single day I am challenged to be in the Practice of patience, of acceptance, of finding joy in the present moment verses trying to resist or fight the process. I know that the life I am building requires time and patience, and that nothing will happen overnight. It's important to anchor yourself to the people and the things you love and appreciate along the way, otherwise living your life in that space of lack or resistance is crippling. Not to mention how many positive lessons you skip over along the way.
I'll relate it back to surfing, it's been 12 years that I've been surfing. It wasn't until this year where I finally could graduate from being a total kook to somewhat of a surfer. The lessons I learned on every wave I bailed off of, every hard paddle out to the line up, every battle wound from the board was incredibly worth it. The moment you finally started dancing with the ocean verses resisting it.
It's amazing how, when you take a step out of the hurricane that fills your mind, how clear the world becomes. You are able to see what you have right in front of you, find appreciation for the things you should be incredibly grateful for. I am a big believer in manifesting the things you want and not to dwell on what you don't have. Since being back from a month away in a Country that fills my soul up, I have been working on practicing this positive manifestation. Somedays are easier than others, but what I am grateful for is those who constantly push me to practice what I'm preaching.
So, now I turn the tables to you. Are you feeling the intense frustration that stems from the impatience in the pursuit of achieving what you really want? In what area of your life? Health? Career? Finances? Relationships? Dream house? Perfect body? What? Can you find gratitude, appreciation and positives in the process?
